⚠️ Important Notice
The authoritative source of truth for all MyHealth@EU terminology content is the MyHealth@EU Central Terminology Server. This FHIR package is provided solely as supporting material to facilitate FHIR-based implementations. In case of any discrepancy between this package and the Central Terminology Server, the Central Terminology Server prevails.
At a glance – MyHealth@EU MVC Package
  • Purpose: Master Value Sets Catalog (MVC) providing the eHDSI-prefixed terminology used across all MyHealth@EU domain IGs.
  • Content: Value sets and code systems covering clinical domains including medications, lab, imaging, allergies, procedures, vaccinations, and more.
  • Usage: Consumed as a dependency by all MyHealth@EU domain-specific IGs (Core, ePrescription, HDR, Laboratory, Vaccination, Imaging).
  • Goal: Provide a single, consistent terminology foundation for cross-border health data exchange across EU Member States.

Overview

This package:

  • Provides eHDSI-prefixed value sets and code systems shared across all MyHealth@EU domain-specific IGs.
  • Covers clinical terminology for all MyHealth@EU use cases including ePrescription, eDispensation, Hospital Discharge Report, Laboratory Report, Vaccination, and Medical Imaging.
  • Is maintained as a standalone package to allow independent versioning and release of terminology content.

What is in this Package

This package contains:

  1. Value Sets — eHDSI-prefixed value sets (e.g. eHDSIActiveIngredient, eHDSIVaccine, eHDSILabCode) binding clinical concepts to agreed code systems such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ATC, EDQM, and others.
  2. Code Systems — a locally defined code system providing display labels for eHDSI-specific concepts.

Terminology Naming Convention

Value sets follow the pattern eHDSI<Domain><Concept> (e.g. eHDSIActiveIngredient, eHDSIVaccine, eHDSILabCode).

Value set canonical URLs use: http://terminology.ehdsi.eu/ValueSet/{resourceId}.

Versioning

This package is versioned independently from the MyHealth@EU domain IGs. Domain IGs reference a specific version of this package as a dependency. Updates to terminology content are released as new versions of this package without requiring changes to the domain IGs.
